No Life without God

Walking into an office building to see a friend, I stopped by the front desk to ask if she was available. Finding out my friend was on vacation, I visited with the receptionist for a minute. The talk turned to blessings. At one point during our conversation, she said, “I don’t know how anyone makes it even one minute without God.”

Without consciously meaning to, I replied, “They don’t.”

I definitely knew what she meant by saying those words and had said them myself many times. I really don’t understand how anyone could live in a world without the hope we have in Jesus Christ. How do they survive without the kind of joy that comes from loving and being loved by our Heavenly Father? How can they be comforted when the pain is so great that only God’s comfort will do? How can they be happy without the promise we have of an abundant life here and the promise of a wonderful eternity?

At the minute I answered her, though, I believe God was giving me a new thought.

Without God, we would not exist at all. There would be no heaven, no earth, and no life. He created the heavens and the earth and He is the only one who gives the gift of life to us.

Once we are living in this delightful world He shared with us, each breath we take is because He allows it to be so. He knows the number of our earthly days; we don’t. He alone offers us the opportunity to choose Jesus Christ, accept salvation, and be assured of an amazing, forevermore eternity with Him.

God is the answer to every question we’ll ever ask, and we are here to serve Him in whatever way He allows us to do that. God is love, and we are called to love Him and to love each other.

Is there another way to live this life? Sure. Is there any other way to be the fulfilled person God intends us to be? No.
